Hog Slat practices an "Open Door Management Policy." This means that employees are free to discuss any problems with any person in management. Employees are encouraged to talk first to their immediate supervisor if they have a problem, complaint or suggestion. If, for some reason, a meeting with an employee’s immediate supervisor will not effectively address their need, they may request a meeting with their Department Head, the Human Resources Department or both. If, after that meeting, the employee still questions the decisions made, a meeting can be arranged with a Company Vice-President or the President. All employees are encouraged to utilize this opportunity.
Everyone has personal problems from time to time. Hog Slat, Incorporated’s Employee Assistance Plan offers professional, confidential counseling and consultation that can help an employee and his or her family members resolve these issues. Services are available at no cost to the employee. Our provider, EAP Consultants, Inc. can assist employees with services for a wide range of personal problems. In addition, EAP Consultants, Inc. can assist employees with work/life issues such as financial matters, legal issues (including no-cost simple wills) and elder and child care referrals.
One of the key features of the Hog Slat EAP is the ability for an employee who believes he/she may have a substance abuse issue to seek assessment, counseling and recommended treatment and follow up. This self-referral will give the employee an opportunity to return to work after successful completion of the prescribed treatment and follow-up program. Please note that the ability to return to work only applies to those employees who: a.) self-refer themselves for the treatment and b.) successfully complete the prescribed program. Employees may not self-refer or self-identify in order to avoid required testing or to avoid disciplinary measures.
Hog Slat, Inc. employees are eligible for the Employee Assistance Program services immediately upon hire.

When you’re planning a trip, you do your research. Finding out the best places to visit will make your vacation more fun. Likewise, knowing the facts about why you need to save for retirement will make your trip toward the future smoother and more enjoyable.
Why should you plan for retirement? Here are just a few reasons:
Living longer costs more
Today, more people are living longer than ever before. You may spend 25 or more years in retirement, and you want your money to last as long as you do.Inflation raises prices
Inflation is the rise in the cost of goods and services over time, and it has averaged about 3% per year for the past 20 years. At that rate, 20 years from now, a $40 dinner could cost about $75. To pay for a more expensive future, your investments will have to keep up with inflation.People are working longer
Studies show that wages make up 24% of the average retiree’s income. If you’d prefer not to work during your retirement years, then you’ll have to make plans today to generate the extra income you’ll need. You can’t rely on Social Security alone
Social Security is a significant source of income for most retired people-but it was never intended to be the only source. On average, Social Security may replace about 39% of your working income.
All of these facts point to one simple conclusion – you need to take action today to ensure a brighter and more secure tomorrow. Hog Slat, Inc. is happy to provide our employees with the tools necessary to plan and save for retirement.
The Hog Slat, Incorporated Retirement Savings Plan is designed to help our employees in their journey toward retirement and is set up in a way that best meets their needs and rewards them for helping achieve our company's goals.
